Eating Healthy when Travelling

Do you spend countless hours in an Airport waiting for your flight? Or get stuck in a meetings, mostly very late meetings? Or sometimes the Hotel you stay at serve breakfast loaded with high calorie food choices?

Few tips to eat healthy when you're travelling. :

1. PACK AHEAD Pack small nutrition bars, meal replacement powders, nuts, trail mix, granola and fat & salt free pretzels. They are nutritious and act as a great snack when you're on plane. This may help to keep your weight in check and also provide your body with the fat and energy it requires. 
2. CHOOSE YOUR DRINKS When you're travelling you might be offered a variety of drinks. Diet Soda, Sugar sweetened beverages and Fresh squeezed juices only increase the sugar cravings. Choose water, Coffee or Tea in order to wet your palate and it helps you to be alert. Keep it plain and simple in order to boost your overall health.

Dietary Fiber fills you up from inside and gives you satisfaction and doesn't fill you from outside! Everyone in my family have food rich in fiber. Indians have more of Fiber than Americans. This nutrient can help lower cholesterol, prevent constipation and improve digestion. Most whole grains are rich in Fiber.
1. Start with your breakfast. Look for whole grain cereals or oatmeal. Add few fruits and nuts. 
2. Have fruits rich in Fiber. Large Asian pear, Raspberries, Blackberries, Bananas, Blueberries, Pears, Apples are some of the best choices of high fiber. 
3. Add whole grains into your lunch. Whole wheat add more fiber to your diet.
 4. Eat your vegetables. High fiber veggies include Artichoke hearts, Green peas, Spinach, Corn, Broccoli and Potatoes. You can add them to your omelets, sandwiches, pastas, pizzas, salad and soup.
